Alhamdulillah, at this morning (3/09/09) 7:15 o’clock, 6 (six) of the pioneering Rumah Zakat Indonesia team, which consists of medical doctors and arrived in PANGALENGAN, precisely in Kp. Sidamukti Ds. PANGALENGAN  PANGALENGAN Kab. Bandung. One location was damaged badly enough.

"Because no one wants to sell foods, most of the victims are difficult to get food and drink," said dr. Yudi Feriandi, Senior Manager of Health Care Division of Rumah Zakat reported by phone at Thursday (3 / 9). after distributed 200 canned meat (Superqurban) and 80 packages of dates for the earthquake victims.

Until Thursday, September 4, at 11.30 Wib, Rumah Zakat Indonesia has provided basic medical service to 120 residents of  Gampong Sidamukti, Pangalengan Sub Disctrict, Bandung Regent, including minor surgery for those whose been struck by the building when the earthquake happened.

Insyallah, in this afternoon,(Friday, Sept 4th, 2009) the another team will be dispatched to Garut Regency to provide assistance there. This team will charge as early respond unit and should provide health services and collecting data for further relief distribution such as soup kitchens, nutrition for children, distribution of clothes, blankets etc, renovating the masjid, as well as advanced medical assistance services when needed.

Medan (07/30) Wednesday, Juli 29th 2009, will remark as Historical Day for Rumah Zakat and its Medan Branch. Its the day when Sekolah Dasar Juara in Jalan Sunggal No 118A Sei Sekambing B Precinct, Medan Sunggal Sub District, has officially open and start their service.  

The Sekolah Dasar Juara (known as Sekolah Juara) is an Elementary School based on multiple intelligence approach full operated by Rumah Zakat. It’s design to support children from low income family especially orphan. And thank to your support, the school itself is free to the students.

The opening of Sekolah Juara receive an honor with the presence of Governor of Sumatera Utara, Mr. Syamsul Arifin, whose officially open the Sekolah Juara for public.  

“The opening of this Sekolah Juara is align with the Provincial plan, to support the people of Sumatera Utara to live a healthy live, with proper education in our prosperous life” explained Mr. Syamsul Arifin to the audience.

Jogjakarta (7/11) Diah and Mita cheers with proud after complete one piece batik pattern. They couldn’t help to show their batik creation, “Look at our batik” shout Diah and Mita to their friend and mentor.

Diah and Mita, nurseling from Imogiri Area, are among 305 nurseling in Jogjakarta and Solo whose join the Kemah Juara in Wonogondang, Camping Ground, Pakem, Sleman, Jogjakarta, from July 10th until 12th, where they enjoy activities that indulges their creativity and talent, such as batik tracing.

Nurseling like Diah and Mita learn to preserve their culture legacy, like Batik. Their instructor taught them to know the making of batik, from putting the design into raw material (called mori) to finishing process of one piece of batik.

On this year 2009, Kemah Juara adopt Culture as theme of the year, “Kemah Juara, Cultural Camp for Children of Indonesia”

In nationwide, 3500 nurseling attend Kemah Juara, right from Banda Aceh in Sumatera to Jayapura in Papua, started together from July 10^th – 12^th, 2009.

For three days, the nurseling will reaps benefit from various activity that indulge their creativity, steaming partnership in group activity, provoke them to built solid resilience within, and compete among their peers, such as bamboo craft and pottery class, traditional game, kite runner, paint your dreams, and compos training.

Rumah Zakat believes that such activities will promote confidence and shaping creavity for nurseling in years to come. This Kemah Juara also provide positive alternative for the children on spent their holidays.

Pekanbaru (06/27) “Alhamdulillah (My praise for Allah, God The Al Mighty), I’ve never thought that my son, will be chosen as Winner of The Student of the Year Award, I known that he’s lack compare to his peer” said Dedi Suwarno (40), father of M. Arfin Dirta, after the ceremony.

Arfin came from poor family, lived outskirt the city in Jalan Wonosari, Gang Batavia, Marpoyan Damai Sub district, City of Pekanbaru. His parents earn their living as moto‑pedicab driver and fried banana peddler.

Arfin bear LV (low vision) since he was born 8 years ago which blurred everything beyond 10 cm from his eyes. Arfin had to undergo the operation 60 days after he was born, and came for second operation when reach age 7. In spite of his lack of sight, his peer found Arfin is joy able and discipline boy. They sought him for settlement whenever there is a quarrel among them. His teacher are proud of Arfin academic achievement.

“We felt so blessed with Arfin presence” said Dedi Suwarno while shed his tears, “this boy led an example for us, his parents”

Bakrie Untuk Negeri, led directly by Anindya N. Bakrie, has launch their internal campaign and managed to accumulate IDR 300,000,000 (about US $ 30,000,-) to support their Income Generating and Stabilization Program for 50 beneficiaries in Situ Gintung Community.

The launching ceremony of partnership between Rumah Zakat and Bakrie Untuk Negeri successfully held in Hall of Economic Faculty, Jakarta Islamic State University. Br. Pamungkas Hendra Kusuma (Vice CEO Rumah Zakat) officially accept the program from Anindya N. Bakrie (Chief of Bakrie Untuk Negeri), marking the program to start in next July 2009.

Why we choose this village ?

We build the water well in this location because of the people who leave here are lack of clean water furthermore in dry season. People didn’t have water well. This location doesn’t reached by PDAM water. So, until now people used water from the lake. The lake be at distance of 3 km from the village. If they can’t take by them self, they should pay labor Rp 5.000,- for each cart, every cart contains of 8 jerry can.

In dry season the lake become dry too, so they should looking for water until the other village, and of course the distance is longer than before. In this condition, they can buy water but the price is too expensive for them, it’s about Rp 25.000 for 1.000 liters of water. But actually the water only ca be used for 3 days, so they should buy again in 3 days. Totally in one month they should pay Rp 250.000 to fulfill their need on water.

What we do ?

Benefit for the community

The advantages of benefit receiver from the making of water well is :

1. The access to get hygienic water is easier than before because the location of water well is in the middle of their village, which can be use weather in a rain season or dry season.

2. The villagers can practice clean and healthy life. Especially for take a bath and washing, cooking and their daily activity.

3. People didn’t pay again for getting hygienic water.

Why we choose this village ?

Dusun Muara Wetan is one of dusun in Muara Village that clean water crisis, furthermore in dry season. Although there is a clean water installation by government, but some of people can`t access that, because of economic limited. To fulfill need of clean water, people look for from farm and river. Now, with water well and pump installing there, all of people be able to access clean water easily.

In RT 02 RW 10 there are a well that exploited by citizen for everyday. The well located beside a Mushalla, it also be exploited for wudhu. But the condition of well is bad, it is because of smell. Although frequently cleaned by the citizen but it still bad. Beside of that there is no facilities such as bathroom and place for wudhu. But there is no choice for the citizen, that is the only one water source reached, so they use it. There also no boundary fence for Mushalla and the well although a lot of animal which like to throw away dirt promiscuously. So in this project beside we build of water well but added by fence for keep cleaning of location. RT 02 RW 10 Suket Duwur consist of 64 KK (Family). Total 239 soul consist of 122 men and 117 woman Majority have occupation as farmer and fisherman with income approximately Rp.400.000 per month.

1. The villagers have a hygienic water facility which can be use weather in a rain season or dry season.

2. The villagers will not lack of water weather for taking a bath, wudhu, washing and for daily cooking everyday.
